Set in small copse of trees and surrounded by farmland in a designated Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty (AONB), Higher Searles Down lies in the softer half of Bodmin Moor
close to the south western corner of Colliford Lake. Peace and quiet abound!
Higher Searles Down is a comfortable mid 19th century moorland farmhouse which was
renovated in the early 1990s, and has been further extended by the current owners.
Higher Searles Down is an ideal place for a couple or two sets of friends to base
themselves, and is small, intimate and comfortable. With sweeping views down to the
distant sea it offers an ideal touring base for all of Cornwall, or a home from home
for those who want to experience the rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor and really get
a way from it all.
Your hosts, Gill and Glen Forster, extend a warm and friendly welcome to their guests.
Having travelled extensively throughout the world they offer the same spirit of helpfulness
and friendship to their guests that they enjoyed on their own voyages. During their
trips Glen’s camera was a constant companion, and now he uses computer techniques
o manipulate those images and create original digital photographic art. Some examples
of Glen’s work are hung at Higher Searles Down and in local establishments and galleries;
